Almost two years ago, Jared Mauldin, a male engineering student at Eastern Washington University, sent a letter to The Easterner, the student newspaper of his school. His goal was to call out sexism in the STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields.
Since its publication, the letter has been shared widely. Its message is powerful because it was written by a man, of course. But it also serves as a reminder that we have to stop kidding ourselves. While a lot has been achieved, we still have a long way to go before the daily double standards women have to experience are finally destroyed.
